(a) نو آبادیاتی نظام لاتعداد معلومات اور اطلاعات کے خزانے پر بنی تھا۔ انگریزوں نے اپنے تجارتی معاملات کو منظم کرنے کے لیے تجارتی سرگرمیوں کا مفصل ریکارڈ رکھا۔ بڑھتے شہروں میں زندگی کی رفتار اور سمت پر نظر رکھنے کے لیے وہ مسلسل جائزہ لیتے رہتے تھے ، ثاریاتی معلومات جمع کرتے تھے اور مخلف قتم کی رپورٹ شائع کرتے تھے۔ آغاز سے ہی نو آبادیاتی حکومت نے نقشے بنانے پر خصوصی توجہ دی۔ حکومت کو یقین تھا کہ کسی جگہ کی ساخت اور جغرافیہ مجھنے کے لیے نقشے لازم ہوتے ہیں۔ ان معلومات کی بنیاد پر وہ ان جگہوں پر بہتر غلبہ قائم رکھ کتے ہیں۔ اس دجہ سے جب شہروں کی توسیع ہونے گلی تو نہ صرف ان کی ترقی کے لیے منصوبے تیار کرنے ہلکہ تجارت کو فروغ دینے اور اینی حکومت کو متحکم کرنے کے لیے بھی نقشے ہوائے۔ شہروں کے نقثوں سے ہمیں وہاں کی پہاڑیوں ، دریاؤں اور سبزہ زاروں کے بارے میں معلومات حاصل ہوتی ہیں۔ یہ تمام امور حفاظتی مقاصد سے متعلقہ منصوبے بنانے میں بہت مفید اور کارآمد ہوتے ہیں۔ ان کے علاوہ گھاٹوں ، گھروں کی گنجانی اور معیار اور راستوں کی حالت وغیرہ کی بناء پر ان علاقوں میں تجارتی امکانات اور محصول کی پالیسی کی منصوبہ بندی کرنے میں مدد ملق ہے۔
