Q2. સંક્ષિપ્ત ઉત્તર તમારી ભાષામાં લખો : 12 × 5 = 60 જૈવ-વૈવિધ્ય વિશ્વની જીવિત પ્રજાતિઓની વિવિધતા છે, જેમાં તેમની આનુવંશિક વિવિધતા અને તેમનાં દ્વારા નિર્મિત પર્યાવરણીય તંત્રના સમુહો સમાવિષ્ટ છે. આજે જીવનની આ વિવિધતા ગંભીર સંકટોનો સામનો કરી રહી છે. વૈજ્ઞાનિકો એ બાબતે એકમત છે કે ઉષ્ણકટિબંધીય વનોની હાનિ અને તેનાં વિકાસમાં વિક્ષેપનો દર જોતાં જણાશે કે આગામી એક યતુર્થાંશ સદી દરમ્યાન પ્રત્યેક દાયકામાં પાંયથી દશ ટકા ઉષ્ણકટિબંધીય વન્ય પ્રજાતિઓ નાશ પામશે. વિવુપ્ત થવાનું સંકટ ઉષ્ણ કટિબંધીય વનો સુધી જ સીમિત નથી. નદીઓનાં માર્ગમાં થનારાં અવરોધો અને વિદેશી પ્રજાતિઓનાં આગમનને કારણે મીઠાં પાણીનાં પ્રાફતિક ભંડારોમાં આશ્ચર્યજનક પરિવર્તન થઈ રહ્યુ છે. મહાસાગરીય દ્વીપ જયાં પાછલાં કેટલાંય હજાર વર્ષોમાં અધિકાંશ વિલુપ્તી થઈ છે, તે ધરતી પરનાં સૌથી વધારે જોખમ ધરાવતાં પર્યાવરણીય તંત્રોમાંથી એક છે. પ્રજાતિઓ અને આનુવંશિક વૈવિધ્યને થતી, હાનિ, પ્રાકૃતિક વસવાટ અને પર્યાવરણીય તંત્રની અવનતિની વર્તમાન પેઢી ઉપરાંત તમામ-ભાવિ પેઢીઓએ ધણી મોટી કિંમત યૂકવવી પડશે. આજે લુપ્ત પ્રાય પ્રજાતિઓનાં મૂળમાં અજાણ્યાં ખાદ્યપદાર્થી, તબીબી ક્ષેત્ર અને ઔદ્યોગિકરણ છે. પર્યાવરણીય તંત્ર માનવ જનસંખ્યાના સંરક્ષણની પોતાની ક્ષમતા ગુમાવી રહયાં છે અને તેમની અવનતિ, જમીનનું ધોવાણ, જળાશયોની ખારાશ, સ્થાનિક જલવાયુ પરિવર્તન, મરુસ્થળીકરણ અને ઉત્પાદકતાની અછતને કારણે ધણી મોટી કિંમત યૂકવવી પડે છે. 2 SLPM-C-GJT
