  • There are EIGHT questions divided in TWO SECTIONS and printed both in HINDI and in ENGLISH.
  • Candidate has to attempt FIVE questions in all.
  • Question Nos. 1 and 5 are compulsory and out of the remaining, THREE are to be attempted choosing at least ONE question from each Section.
  • The number of marks carried by a question/part is indicated against it.
  • Answers must be written in the medium authorized in the Admission Certificate which must be stated clearly on the cover of this Question-cum-Answer (QCA) Booklet in the space provided.
  • No marks will be given for answers written in a medium other than the authorized one.
  • Word limit in questions, wherever specified, should be adhered to.
  • Illustrate your answers with suitable sketches/maps and diagrams, wherever considered necessary.
  • These shall be drawn in the space provided for answering the question itself.
  • Attempts of questions shall be counted in sequential order.
  • Unless struck off, attempt of a question shall be counted even if attempted partly.
  • Any page or portion of the page left blank in the Question-cum-Answer Booklet must be clearly struck off.

Q1. Answer the following in about 150 words each :

(a) Define 'speleothem'. Discuss the various forms and features of speleothems.
‘स्पेलियोथेम’ को परिभाषित कीजिए । स्पेलियोथेम्स के विभिन्न रूपों एवं लक्षणों की चर्चा कीजिए ।

(b) What are the high altitude environmental hazards ? Explain with suitable examples.
उच्च ऊँचाई पर्यावरणीय खतरे क्या हैं ? उचित उदाहरणों द्वारा वर्णन कीजिए ।

(c) What is pollution dome ? Discuss its formation and impacts.
प्रदूषण गुम्बद क्या है ? इसके निर्माण एवं प्रभावों की चर्चा कीजिए ।

(d) When corals are affected by stress it causes them to turn completely white. Explain the reasons of such an occurrence.
जब प्रवाल तनाव से प्रभावित होते हैं तो तनाव के कारण पूर्णरूप से श्वेत हो जाते हैं। इस घटना के कारणों की व्याख्या कीजिए ।

(e) Well developed soils typically exhibit distinct layers in their soil profile. Elaborate.

सरिता आकारिकी के विविध पहलुओं का ज्ञान किस प्रकार परिवहन, वस्ती एवं भूउपयोग नियोजन तथा बाढ़ नियंत्रण एवं बाढ़ प्रबन्धन में उपयोग किया जाता है वर्णन कीजिए ।

(c) What is the relationship between ocean currents and global surface wind systems? Explain with examples how does the gyre in the Northern Hemisphere differ from the one in the Southern Hemisphere.
महासागरीय धाराओं एवं वैश्विक धरातलीय पवन तंत्रों में क्या अन्तःसम्बन्ध है ? उदाहरणों द्वारा वर्णन कीजिए कि किस प्रकार उत्तरी गोलार्ध के जलधारा घूर्णन दक्षिणी गोलार्ध के जलधारा घूर्णन से पृथक है।
